Gastronomy offer at Gornergrat
Due to the corona crisis, the range of restoration services on the Gornergrat is limited. As an alternative, you can plan your trip and also the meals in the nature - and choose your resting place yourself. In Zermatt, there are numerous possibilities to equip yourself with products for an unforgettable picnic with a beautiful panorama.
The Gornergrat doesn’t only offer the best views of the Matterhorn but also some of the best culinary delights. Get your strength up after a mountain hike or mountain-bike tour or during a day’s skiing where great food is cooked - in our mountain restaurants. Enjoy a meal plus the views from one of the many sunny terraces at the restaurants.

Restaurant vis-à-vis, 3100 Kulmhotel Gornergrat
Here you have huge windows overlooking the Monte Rosa Massif and memorable views. They serve a selection of Valais’ specialities like the Valais cold plate, or cheese and Rösti dishes. For dessert we recommend the Toblerone Mousse plus a view of the Matterhorn as a free extra.
The Riffelhaus 1853 restaurant is on the Riffelberg at almost 2,600 metres and is the ideal place for a quick bite; for example during a hike from Gornergrat via Riffelsee Lake to Riffelberg.
The Riffelhaus restaurant gets full marks for a typical Swiss cuisine: fondue, toasted cheese or Rösti are naturally on the menu. Air-dried Valais beef – a local speciality – is also one of the Riffelhaus 1853’s celebrated dishes.
Riffelalp Resort 2222m
The Riffelalp Resort is like dining in a different world; sample the various dishes available in the 5-star restaurant where guests find something for every taste.
The Chämi-Hitta is located somewhat away from the crowds on the lower Riffelalp between the stations of Landtunnel and Riffelalp, about 15 minutes on foot from the Riffelalp railway station. In winter you can get there from the ski slopes or the winter hiking paths. Warm up in front of the historic stone oven. In summer the walking path network is reached from the Riffelalp. A slice of their home-made apple strudel or fruit tarts are especially recommended at a coffee stop in the Chämi-Hitta. The offer also includes venison schnitzel, cheese fondue, salads or meat from the lava stone grill.
