Our hiking tips - 3 less-frequented hikes
With our hiking tips, you can set off into the perfect natural surroundings of Zermatt without encountering large crowds. Appreciate the silence of nature – this will help you to switch off and recharge your batteries.
Path of Silence
The path of silence leads - as the name already says - to a little known area of Zermatt. From the Gornergrat, you hike through stony terrain towards Gant down to the Grünsee lake. The lake shore invites you to a picnic with a view. Alternatively, you can stop at the Mountain Lodge "Ze Seewjinu" instead of eating from your rucksack. After a refreshment, the path through the Swiss stone pine forest to the Riffelalp station is a piece of cake.
Riffelalp circular hike
After the excursion to the Gornergrat, make a stop at Riffelalp. The approximately one-hour circular hike lets you lose yourself in the Swiss stone pine forest above Zermatt. On the way back, you will experience a new, but no less fascinating, view from Riffelalp to the Matterhorn.
Hike Riffelalp - Zermatt
To round off your day on the Gornergrat, the Riffelalp Trail is an ideal hike to stretch your legs. It takes about 1.5 hours and offers numerous refreshment stops along the way. From the Riffelalp station you can reach the lower Riffelalp via the Riffelalp Resort. Shortly before Furi, the route branches off to the right and leads you back to Zermatt.
