Gornergrat - the perfect starting point for an amazing day’s skiing and a view of the Matterhorn
Gornergrat is in the heart of the Zermatt skiing region and is an ideal starting point for your day on the slopes. Mainly there are easy to middle-difficulty pistes and this sunny area is excellent for families. With a comfy chairlift or the heated Gornergrat railway you can return to the viewing mountain at 3,089 metres above sea level.
You could continue your day by skiing in the direction of Sunnegga or by tackling the demanding descent to Furi to finish up in the Matterhorn glacier paradise. Later on in the afternoon you might look for a deckchair in the sun at the Igloo Village and just chill out before the après ski begins.
A very special experience for skiers are the Moonshine Evenings on Gornergrat, which take place when the moon is full. After a satisfying cheese fondue comes the guided descent on skis from Gornergrat to Riffelalp/Landtunnel, where the Gornergrat railway picks you up and takes you back to Zermatt.
