The Zermatt Open-Air Theatre enters its second round
2017 Zermatt Open-Air Theatre from 6 July – 27 August 2017
The Zermatt Open-Air Theatre returns in the summer of 2017 with the play "Romeo und Julia am Gornergrat". The world's best-known love story will be staged from 6 July to 27 August 2017 right in front of the Matterhorn on the Riffelberg at 2,600 m.a.s.l. Inspired by Gottfried Keller's novella - A Village Romeo and Juliet - director Livia Anne Richard has rewritten this famous piece and transferred it to the mountain village of Zermatt.
The play features such versatile themes as love, freedom and the question as to whether love is stronger than anything else. The Zermatt Open-Air Theatre guarantees a unique emotion-filled experience set amid natural surroundings, and all this right in front of that mountain of mountains, the Matterhorn.
